Pastors >

Rev. Tom McCloskey, Senior Pastor

Rev. Tom McCloskey is our senior pastor. Tom came to First Church in 2011, accompanied by his wife Jane and his eight-year-old granddaughter Isabelle Moylan. Tom and Jane have four adult children: Brandon, Christopher, Jennifer and Matt. Tom graduated magna cum laude with a B. S. in mathematics from Florida Southern in 1973. Throughout his youth Tom spent summers at the Warren W. Willis youth camp near Leesburg, first as a camper; then as a member of the leadership team and finally as director of children’s camps. The camping program has had a profound affect on Tom’s life. It was there that he met the Rev. Warren W. Willis, who became his mentor; and, it was there that he began to feel God’s call. After college he entered Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, and while there spent three years working as children and youth minister and outreach minister at Trinity United Methodist Church in Atlanta. It was there — while working with the poor and disenfranchised — that his call to ministry was clarified. In his spare time, Tom enjoys playing the guitar.

Rev. Brian Johnson, Associate Pastor

Rev. Brian Johnson is serving in his first appointment as our Associate Pastor. He is from Virginia Beach, Virginia, and is a graduate of Old Dominion University where he majored in history. His wife Melanie was born in West Palm Beach, but grew up in Dublin Georgia. The two met in Orlando while working in Disney College Program. The two were married in 2006 and moved to Kentucky where Brian entered Asbury Theological Seminary. After a year and a half in seminary, the two made the decision to transfer to the Orlando campus.
