Where do I park?>

Access to our underground parking garage is from Jackson St., which is a one-way street heading west. A street level parking lot is available on Jackson St., just past Magnolia Ave, in front of our Wesley Child Development Center (in the Ledbetter and Asbury Buildings at 42 E. Jackson St.). Directly across Jackson St. from that lot is a parking garage that is open to anyone attending Sunday morning church services, classes or small groups. Available on Sunday mornings, valet parking is offered on Sunday mornings free of charge (Tips are not accepted.) This service originated from our Youth Ministry and has expanded to become a church-wide ministry. Drop off your car at the front of the sanctuary on Magnolia Avenue 9:15 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. – 11 a.m. Pick up your car on the north side of the sanctuary on Jackson Street.

Refreshments are provided. Do you feel that God is leading you to become a part of the First Church congregation? If so, join us in New Member Orientation. This class will enlighten participants as to the theology of the Methodist Church, the mission of this congregation, the many ministries and service opportunities and what it means to become a member of First Church. Is your church involved in mission work?>

Yes, we are very involved in local missions such as IDignity, the Fuller Center for Housing, the Christian Service Center, the Coalition for the Homeless and many others. We have an active food ministry, and an active sewing ministry, that support our local community and projects around the world. Check out our Community page to learn more. In the national and foreign mission fields we generally have at least three adult and four youth missions a year. In the past few years, our missioners have traveled internationally to Guatemala, Dominican Republic and Ukraine. We have also had yearly teams participate in the Fuller Center for Housing “blitz build,” and also travel to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) headquarters in Lousiana. Our mission work includes both elements of sharing Christ and providing assistance with the physical needs of the people, including building, repair work and other projects. In addition, the United Methodist Church is what is called a connectional church. This means we are connected to more than 30,000 other congregations to pool resources to fund a worldwide missionary and disaster relief effort. Through this global effort we fund over 220 missionaries and a host of projects too many to list.
