Wesley Child Development Center
The Wesley Child Development Center (WCDC) was created as a means of expressing Jesus’ love for children, and in the belief that it is First United Methodist Church of Orlando’s (First Church) congregational responsibility to provide, in an environment of love and trust, a place to develop and nurture each individual child’s growth and learning. The center strives to meet the varied needs of today’s families and to provide an atmosphere where children, from all backgrounds, can flourish and grow physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually.
Our premiere preschool and child development center is located at 42 E. Jackson St., in Downtown Orlando, with a beautiful view of City Hall. We are equipped with a loving and experienced staff that has been nationally background screened, and holds certification in CPR/First Aid. The First Aid training includes training to use a defibrillator that is accessible in the WCDC for emergencies. Several of our teachers hold college degrees and other advanced certifications in the field of early childhood education. All of our staff is provided with ten hours of training annually on our campus.
We are a Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) school. Our 2010-2011 VPK Readiness Rating is 95 out of 100. We praise God for our wonderful teachers!
We are also accredited by United Methodist Association of Pre-Schools (UMAP). Click here for the accreditation criteria. WCDC is Gold Seal licensed by the State of Florida’s Department of Children and Families. Our Certificate number is C09OR0661.
