MOPS and MOMSnext

MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) is an exciting Christian program specially designed for mothers with children, infant through kindergarten. MOPS is an international organization that meets the needs of more than 100,000 women each year nationwide.

MOPS gives moms the leisure time to share good conversation with other moms. They also have the opportunity to learn parenting, caring for themselves and their homes through a variety of presentations.

MOPS meets at First Church on the third Thursday evening of each month from September to. Childcare is always free to participants. Register your children in the nursery by clicking here to visit our Nursery page.

Dues for MOPS are $40 for the year.

For more information contact Jessica Mills. More information about the MOPS organization can be found on their website. Connect to the First Church MOPS chapter on Facebook.

MOMSnext is a Christian program for Moms of elementary-age children that provides a fun and casual atmosphere to enjoy fellowship with other mothers. More information about MOMSnext can be found through the MOPS website.

Spiritual Enrichment Groups

Spiritual Enrichments Groups are available to women living in the downtown towers. Additional information on the dates and times of these monthly group studies can be received by contacting Candie Whitney, Congregational Care Associate.

Thursday Morning Women’s Bible Study

This Bible Study, open to all women, meets on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. The study focuses on the Bible one book at a time, with a strong emphasis on understanding the culture and human situation of ancient times and how scripture can still speak in the 21st century.

The WBS class is also involved in closely examining Biblical books, paying attention to the history, meaning, theology and practical application of the material. The class also carries on a twice-a-year mission project of sending care packages to church members attending college or in the Military service. We meet every Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m., taking time off for holidays and the summer.

Contact Rose Mary Renick if you would like more information about this class.

United Methodist Women (UMW)

Small groups, called circles, meet monthly for programs which include Bible study, fellowship, local and worldwide missions. Open to all women, regardless of church affiliation. Contact Candie Whitney to learn about UMW and to connect to a small group.

School Supply Drive

Our United Methodist Women support elementary school students and their teachers through annual supply drives. Items are delivered to local schools and to the teacher supply store “A Gift for Teaching.“ Many of the donations go to children who are living in homeless situations such as shelters, motels and hotels. This collection project helps ease the struggle for the schools, students and teachers. A teacher who becomes aware of students’ needs has these resources readily available. Please bring your donations to the church.
