The Skylight Youth Ministry
The Youth Ministry of First Church, The Skylight, is committed to helping youth in sixth through twelfth grade experience the love of Christ and learn how to share that love with the world. Led by Youth Director Justin Cox, the Skylight provides a way for youth to develop their faith in God and build relationships with other Christian youth and adults.

Introducing our Summer Interns!
We have hired our two summer interns for this year! Both are extremely excited to be joining our team this summer. But instead of me introducing them, let me let them introduce themselves:
Middle School Summer Intern: Camille Layton
I am Camille Layton and I am thrilled to be the newest middle school intern for the youth group this summer! I am so excited to put all my energy into investing in our youth group and making summer 2013 one to remember! I am going into my junior year at Florida State University and I am studying Social Work. I graduated from Boone High School in 2011 and have been a member of the First Church Youth Group since my junior year. Last summer I served in the community of Tuskegee, AL with Alabama Rural Ministry as a construction coordinator and site leader. After meeting so many wonderful people in Alabama, I decided it was time to come home and serve the folk there! I know the youth will keep me very busy and on my toes and I am looking forward to meeting them and having a summer to remember!
High School Summer Intern: Wesley Anderson
I am a senior at Florida State University pursuing a bachelors degree in Marketing and I will be graduating in the spring of 2014! I was born and raised in Winter Park, Florida and I attended First United Methodist Church of Winter Park. I spent the past two summers working as a team member at Warren W. Willis United Methodist Camp, where I found that I love working with students! My favorite hobbies include fishing, playing guitar, golfing, and of course mission trips. I am so excited to start the summer working with the students at First United Methodist Church of Orlando!
Sunday Night’s at the Skylight
GSUS Praise Band – 4:00 pm

Interested in singing in a more traditional choir setting? Then join the Youth Choir. They meet at 4:30 pm in the Choir Room on the second floor.
Youth Group – 5:30 to 8:00 pm
Youth are encouraged to attend youth group on Sunday evenings as a way to learn about Jesus’ love for them personally and how to share that love with the world. Youth Group meets every Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. During this time the youth have a $3 snack supper ($1 of which goes to support our two Compassion Kids), discuss topics in age specific small groups and engage in a youth lead worship service. Topics discussed are centered around themes specific to each age group: 6th grade, 7th and 8th grade, and high school. The topics for the year are brainstormed by youth at the All Youth Retreat and are led weekly by our adult volunteers.
Sunday Morning Trigue
Trigue is our Sunday morning program for youth. Its goal is to engage youth throughout the church body as well has help them develop their own worship and church habits.
At 9:30 am, youth have options to engage in multiple service opportunities throughout the church or are welcome to worship at the Contemporary Worship Service. Service opportunities include working in The LightHouse or nursery, valet parking, working in Cameron’s Kitchen, and serving in the Contemporary Worship Service.
At 11:00 am, youth have additional opportunities including Dig, a Bible study; EPIC, which has more details below; Mission Leadership Team, which has more details below; or participating in worship at the 11 a.m. Worship Service.
Wednesday Night Core
The Core is a group for youth (grade 6-12) to discuss upcoming youth worship topics. Each week an in-depth look at the worship topic, scripture, and other devotional material will help bring new understanding of the subject. Through the Core’s discussion, worship topics are finalized for the whole youth group. The Core is open to all youth interested in exploring Biblical themes in a new way.
