2017 Advent Guide
Six months ago, the Education/Discipleship Committee began reviewing resources for our churchwide study for Advent. After thoughtful discussion about several options and prayerful discernment, we decided to focus on the idea of discipleship as a way of life. A small group from that committee met regularly for creative planning, and what lies in this resource is the fruit of that collaborative, inspired effort.
In the pages that follow, you will find authentic devotions written by laity and staff, thought-provoking reflection and discussion questions, delicious recipes to try, fun family and small group excursions, and specific challenges to live out each week’s theme. It’s a practical guide, meant to be accessible rather than lofty, and simple rather than adding too much to what tends to be an overly-scheduled season.
This resource can be used by individuals or groups, such as families, Sunday School classes, small groups, or committees. If you choose to do the excursions, we encourage your group to do them together when possible as a way to build fellowship and community. If you aren’t part of a group and would like to join one, please contact Pastor Shelly to get connected.
So, if you don’t have a copy already, be sure to download the Advent Guide with the link below or pick one up the next time you’re at church. They’ll be available in both of the worship spaces and also in the Gathering Space/Cafe area on the first floor.
In anticipation of a season filled with hope, love, joy, and peace,
