Read the New Testament with First Church

Reading Daily Guide

These daily readings will allow you to read the entire New Testament in one year. The church has purchased and given out pocket size New Testament Bibles. If you did not receive one or need another one, please contact the church office.

Some suggestions:

• Read every day … regularity helps. Each reading is typically less than a page.

• Read in private, or at a public space, at the same time of day … regularity helps. This New Testament is small enough to carry in your pocket, so carry it with you. If someone asks what you are doing, then tell them and give them your New Testament and Guide. ~ You can get another next Sunday. ~
• Read but take time to think about what you have read. Use the following filters to clarify the passage’s meaning in your life:
  • “I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.” Romans 7:15b… I am a sinner.
  • “This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 1Timothy 2:4 … God has a plan.
  • “See I am making all things new.” Rev. 21:5 … There is hope for me and all people.
  • You might use a journal to clarify what you have read and how the reading matters in your life.
• Close with a prayer where you thank God and listen to God.
• Claim the power of the Word in your life and share that power with another person.
