International performing artist John West will give a concert on the Aeolian-Skinner-Dyer organ at First United Methodist Church of Orlando on Sunday, November 30, at 7 pm. West, who earned his Masters of Music degree with honors at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, will perform Charles Marie Widor’s Symphonie VI, with dramatic vignettes introducing the movements. West will also perform works from different cultures and ethnic styles, as well as some original compositions. Admission is free.
West recently toured the Northeast, traveling from Maine to New York. The highlight of the tour for West was performing at West Point Military Academy in the Cadet Chapel. West has played all over the world and performed solos for the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the Pasadena Symphony. He has been a featured artist for various gatherings of the American Guild of Organists (AGO), and in June 2010 was one of eight organists asked to play at the Los Angeles Chapter of the AGO prestigious 100th Anniversary Concert. West will perform at Disney Hall in December with the LA Master Chorale, and next June will be a featured performer for the AGO’s San Diego regional convention.
