FAST is a new ministry of First UMC Orlando that is awakening our members to the realities of human trafficking right here in the Central Florida area. Our mission is to bring awareness of human trafficking, to educate our church members how to recognize the signs of trafficked persons and what each of us can do to help stop this horrific crime, and to follow God’s leading to assist in areas of victim recovery.
We do this by collecting supplies for victims of human trafficking. We donated these and many miscellaneous supplies to Florida Abolitionist for distribution to the rescued victims. Another goal is to network with the community agencies that are deeply involved in this fight against slavery and to add our own mission to theirs. We seek to learn how God can use our members to mentor and help rescued victims succeed in their recoveries.
How To Get Involved:
- Know: Learn more about the issue of human trafficking in Central Florida
- Share: Tell others about human trafficking. You never know whose life you could save.
- Report: Call the National Human Trafficking Hotline to report suspicious activity at 888-373-7888
- Volunteer: Call the church and volunteer with us! FAST is always looking for team members to vitalize this ministry.
- Give: Help continue the fight to help victims of trafficking by donating to the church specifically for this ministry.
Pray for victims of sex slavery, for their rescue and rehabilitation
Pray for compassionate workers to help with the restoration and healing of victims
Pray that governments would strengthen their laws to protect vulnerable children and to prosecute the perpetrators
Pray that God will raise-up laborers to work in the anti-trafficking field and if you might be one of those persons

The next Faith Alliance Meeting is Thursday, January 15 at 7:00 PM at Northland Church. At this meeting, the film “Chosen” will be shown. “Chosen” is a powerful 20-minute video about two young girls who were raised in the church and were members of their youth groups, yet, were tricked and seduced into the life of human trafficking. There will be discussion groups following the video in which we will learn ways to prevent this from happening to our own youth and how to talk to them about human trafficking. Awareness is the key to prevention and to stopping it from happening. All are welcome to attend.
January 24, is the Annual Orlando Day of Awareness located in Eola Park, from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Join the local fight to stop human trafficking though this event with music, band stand events and booths around the park highlighting the community agencies that rescue and assist the victims. The goal is to spread awareness and prevention throughout the greater Orlando area. All are welcome.
Would you like to volunteer with the Annual Orlando Day of Awareness? First Church has offered parking spaces for those working at this event and we will need a few people to serve by monitor the parking lot. If you are able to give some time on January 24 to monitor the parking for the church, please email Gloria Lobnitz at email@example.com as soon as you can.
