THRIVE is an LGBTQ+ and Allies group based at First United Methodist Church. We are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions can find solace, community, and spiritual enrichment.

OUR MISSION: 

To provide a safe haven where LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies can come together to share experiences, offer support, build lasting friendships, and embark on a journey of personal and spiritual growth. Through advocacy, education, and compassionate understanding, we strive to create a space where diversity is celebrated, all individuals feel affirmed and valued for who they are, and all can belong in a positive environment as we grow individually and transform our world.

 

With love, acceptance, and faith as our guiding principles, we aim to cultivate a community that embraces the inherent worth and dignity of every person, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Together, we seek to create a more just and inclusive world where all are free to live authentically and thrive.


WHAT WE DO:

Thrive functions can be divided into four key areas including:

  1. Community Outreach
  2. Social Functions (including monthly social lunches- usually on the first Sunday of the month, and fun activities, including game nights, Painting with a Twist, putt-putt, arts and crafts, and other surprises),
  3. Spiritual Growth
  4. Service



Each year First Church participates in the Come Out With Pride parade and other LGBTQ+ events in the community.
